PREACH OUR PLIGHTS TO THE FA AND CORPORATE GHANA --- AMPUTEE LEAGUE PLEADS WITH THE MEDIA

Mr. Emmanuel Akpabli
Mr. Emmanuel Akpabli, Chairman of Ghana Amputee League Clubs Association(GHALCA), has bemoaned the poor treatment meted out to them by the governing body of Ghana Football as he has revealed that they have been totally neglected to their fate over the years in all aspects of which have resulted in unbearable agony and trauma.

Mr. Akpabli in an interview with Akim-Swedru based Bosome 89.1FM, shockingly revealed that the “situation still remains the same” as the total negligence of the physically challenged footballers surges on. Emphatically he stated that all the efforts to reach the FA with their problem has not yielded any positive result, but the Youth and Sports Ministry heard their cry in the media recently and has pledged to come to their aid in whichever way they can of which is totally the opposite to that of the FA. “Club owners are the sole financiers of the day to day running of almost everything”, he lamented.

“We have not heard anything from the FA concerning the FIFA Covid-19 relief fund yet but we are hoping to be considered as far as the sharing of any national cake is concerned”, Mr. Akpabli said.

He again added that they are now making ‘noise’ in the media because they are doing whatever possible they could to prevent the ‘boys’ from going back to the streets where they were. He made mention of the need for the growth and development of the Amputee football because through that Sport, some players are making names and monies in Europe so it must be patronized nationally to boost the morale of the players, administrators and everyone directly or indirectly involved.

He concluded by heaping praise on Mr. Alli Jarah for his unrivaled contribution to the development of Amputee football when he was accidentally paralyzed and came to join the Coaching force of the league. Mr. Akpabli lift ed the lid on sacrifices some people like Alli Jarah and others make to ensure the survival of the Sport as people go to the extent of even selling their properties to fund for the activities of the league. “The government and the FA cannot do it all by themselves so all persons and corporate Ghana must get on board to help their fellow amputees because they are suffering a lot”, he ended.
